Are these units available yet for the 05 or has anyone tried an 04 unit on an 05 truck?
[/ QUOTE ]
I had one on my 04. if you get 1 kiss your tranny good bye. they just dont have there shifting right. it was a cool unit but not worth the damage it can cause. people are having much better luck with the ts boxes as well as quadzilla. check my sig for my prefernce.

The Edge is not immediately a tranny killer. I can say that my truck has never liked level 5. Level 4 was better but for best all around driving level 3 was the best. For some reason the trans doesn't like the extra fuel of level 5. If you force the truck to run hard and the shifts are bad then it will take out the trans. The wot throttle shifts were fine in lvl 3 just not lvl 5.

What can be done to the tranny to tolerate level 5. How about the TS instigator, are many people running these modules? How do they get away with the high hp and not destroy the tranny?
I was all gung ho to get the Edge with Attitude until I spent some time on the 6.0 boards. If I do anything at all, I'll probably go with the Predator. It gave me no problems with my 7.3.

So is the current thought that the edge is knocking out the trannys? There seems to be alot of people running this set up.

Ive got 3 Edge's on my const. trucks, a 2002 Duramax w/122k miles, a 2003 Powerstoke 6.0 litre w/89k miles, and a 2004 Powerstroke w/25k miles and a TS box. Just ordered a 05 and I will be getting the Edge on that. Had more problems w/TS box than could ever imagine with the Edge, I sold it 5 months a go and put on the Edge on the 04. Never blew a tranny, and the Duramax and 03 Ford are driven by 5 different guys, its all in how you treat the product, and know its peramiters. Level 4&5 should always be used above 45-50 mph, not off the line like a drag car. Level 3 is more than adequate, and is left there 80% of the time. Lately, all I ever read on this board is all opinions, not actual hard facts, if your trany blew, and you can honestly say you didnt abuse it , great, but contrary to belief from previous posts, thats not the case. So if you like TS, great, give us hard facts, like how long you had it, miles you put on it, and how its a better product. All I want to do is learn, and thats why Im on this board, Thank you. Jeff

YOu cannot compare the predator's power to the power of the edge. The edge puts out just as much HP as the larger 160 modules. There are alot more people with the edge than any other box out there and that is why there seems to be so much tranny grenading going on with the edge.
My truck has almost 50k on it and it been had by every product out there but one brand, what kills trannies is the driver. We sell tons of Edge's, Predators and SC's not to mentuion van Aaken's, any and or all of them has the potential to kill a tranny, just liek a heavy duty chip in a 7.3 from days of old. It's what the driver does withthe chip that kills trannies!

Dennis Perry told me flat out that his TS 165 will kill the tranny. I believe he also posted this on this board somewhere, but don't quote me on that.
I posted on another thread about a conversation I had with a VERY knowledgeable transmission source about how much power can be added without damaging the tranny. He basically said that about any of the boxes up to around 100hp can be used without significantly reducing the useful life of your tranny, if you use your head. However, if you are racing your truck, towing overweight, stacking boxes/tuners, putting a lift & big tires on, etc, then any and all will damage the tranny to some degree or another.
Bottom line is, any of them (at least up to 100hp) can be run if you use some degree of reason and all of them can also destroy a tranny if you abuse the power.
