I asked this same question couple days ago and didn't get any responces. When the time comes to replace it and the oil cooler I will fork up the money for it. Seems like a no brainer to me.

I just ordered it from Gene @ Neal tech I also ordered a new oil cooler and screen/ filter for the hvop since I will be into it that far anyways. Hopefully this cooler will fix the factory crap. the egr cooler has been replaced twice already and I have 45,654 miles on it. 2 turbos and 1 rebuilt turbo . Dave
Have you had your truck tested for a blocked oil cooler. The dealership can run a test for you if not. P.S. I ordered mine from Gene yesterday. Hope it works.

I just replaced my egr cooler and oil cooler myself. Used Neal Technologies egr cooler. Indeed it is bullet proof and fits like oem part.
would highly recomend this over oem or removal of egr.
Great service and prices on his egr and oil cooler kit. The truck is back to 100%

Is the oil cooler and upgrade or just a factory repalcement part?
banks250 - did you install this yourself? if so how much of a job is it to do?
It's a lot of work. Get a topside creeper or build one so you are laying down across the engine bay. You'll be up there for awhile. Shop rate will be about 10-12 hours, and at $80-100/hr, that adds up quickly. Get a list of items to upgrade along the way since a lot of things will be removed to get to the oil cooler.

I just order one last week. Very quick service and looks like a high quality piece with excellent welds. I am currently installing it, an oil cooler rebuild, and the HPOC STC connection.
As for egr replacement it is not hard work it is just time consuming. Would be a great help if you had somebody help you in removing the turbo and reinstalling it because of the placement it is hard to do by youreself, not impossible. The other thing you need to be carefull with is the tork settings on all the bolts. they are very low. I have the shop manual to set the tork settings if anybody needs them let me know.
Just takes time and a thick blanket to lay over the engine to kind of get compfortable in the engine bay. It took me about 9 hours to do everything split in two days. good eyes and light definately helps. Changed egr cooler ALL O'rings, cleaned egr valve, rebuilt the oil cooler, oil filters, fuel filters and coolant.works great. egr cooler again top quality.
Online Step by Step instructions for EGR remove and replace?
Not gonna be able to swing the $2k the factory wants for the STOCK cooler swap, and so I will upgrade and do it myself.
Question: Will it make it easier to remove the hood?
I have a bunch of pallets I will screw together to use as a riser to access the engine with more ease...any other tips? Also, what range of torque wrench will I need?
