Question EGT question

I run an Innovative SCT extreme street tune eveyday. I only change it when I tow-which is rare now-or when going to the dealer. I am wondering what I can do to make a significant drop in EGTs so I can take better advantage of the power. Seems to run up to 1250* real quickly on pedal mashing moments. I run a stock dp w/5" pipe straight out the back...stock intake. Any ideas, and cost estimate?

Ever consider a water/meth injection kit? Works great for those hot romps.

Not sure how that will look to my dealer. He's already cool, but I don't know how he will take that. How involved is installation?

I am curious what water/meth injection is like compared to an intercooler. How much of a real world drop can you see from watr/meth and intercoolers?
Kinda sucks not being able to really get into that power.

1250* pre-turbo is fine.. i tow and see 1250* for 30 mins+ while climbing grades here in the desert..

with XStreet your temps go up quickly and should come back down.. i've made passes where i've pegged my 1600* pyro for most of the run... you don't have to back out as soon as you hit 1250*...

as far as water/meth, running straight water does a great job of cooling things down... though you really shouldn't need it for short passes with stock injectors.. if you have a temp problem, take a closer look for boost leaks, leaking I/C..

1250* all day long=no problem. I wouldn't worry about those temps.

Smile

I see 200-300 degrees drop with 50/50 water meth. Great for hills. Put a Banks technicooler on before and didn't see any noticeable drop. Anyways like they said 1250F isn't THAT hot, but don't let her get much hotter. LAterz

Mod wise? maybe a CAI. Bu thats really all. You cant really do much to lower exhaust manifold gases before the turbo. 1300*F is a good limit to set at a constant basis, but once ya go higher you start to take the risk of blowin that turbo... or over time... destroying it. Just watch it and i wouldnt go over 1400*. Just my input.

Cai is not really going to get you much in performamce other than a dusted turbo. I've heard 100* is the noticable drop from a intercooler and given the price not worth it. I've heard 100-300 dependant on the mix for water/meth injection. Remember that adding a water/meth kit will help to kill the headbolts if your still stock. And lastly using the water/meth for cooling is good but trying to use it for power is a recipe for disaster.
