Engine Heater

Hello everyone! Im new to DieselStop and new to diesel engines. Just purchased a 05 F350 and it does not have an engine block heater. I would like input from anyone who has installed an engine heater (either the block type or the radiator hose type) and where did you buy it. Thanks.

Re: Engine Heater

It already has a block heater, as all the new diesel superduty's do. You just need to purchase a cord, which is an option. Should cost you ~$35 from Ford.

Also, Welcome to the site.

Re: Engine Heater

I just got done looking and do not see a block heater in the freeze plugs I could see. Do you know what side of the engine the heater is installed? Thanks for the help.

Re: Engine Heater

If you have the cord installed it should be by the passenger fog light. If not then you need to buy the cord and install it.

Re: Engine Heater

i just bought my 05 psd cc and noticed it did not have a plug on mine. i went back to the dealer and asked them why. i live in nebraska and we are not considered a cold weather state. that is a bunch of bull. after a couple of minutes of complaining the installed one for free. all diesels are equipped with the heater you just need to get the plug and run it to your grill. tell your dealer that you didn't spend that much money on your diesel to not be able to start it in the winter. AND TELL THEM TO PUT ONE ON FOR FREE!!!!

Re: Engine Heater

I to am new to diesel's I traded in my 2004 F-150 CC on a F350 CC Lariet PSC & looked all over for the engine block heater cord.I found this website on the subject.I went to the dealer I just bought this truck from on Sat. in upstate NY were it gets below 0 often & they said NY is not one of the states Ford puts the cords on.The owners manual say's to use the engine block heater if it gets below -10 .I wonder what states that Ford figures are cold enough? Alaska,Maine? Like the last post. I spent $50k on a new truck & they want to charge me $82.00 for the cord, that's BS.They ordered the cord & I will see what happens when it comes in.I can get the cord off one of the sponsers here for $45.00. Re: Engine Heater

All the trucks I saw at the dealer in TN had the cords, and it rarely gets to the teens here.

Re: Engine Heater

Where can you get the cord for $45? I talked to the dealer and mine wants $80, doesn't get real cold here, but want it just in case.

Re: Engine Heater

If I use the part number that someone else gave on this thread you can get it here for $42.00 http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...;siteid=214083
When you get the search for Ford part enter 5C3Z6B018AA & you will get it.
Thanks,

Re: Engine Heater

RockRubi,

I have some pics DownEastDiesel sent me to show the wire routing. I did mine in about 20 minutes. Very easy to do. I can send the pics to you if you would like.

Re: Engine Heater

Another option instead of spending $$ on the cable is to install this Marinco Plug (about $15.00-$16.00)

Re: Engine Heater

Just bought one for my 05 + rear fender liners + hood blanket. Guess Ford does not think we need these things. Anyway that is another BIT#$. The mechanic said that we dont need them unless it gets -15. Well I am an A$$ then because I just paid $47 plus tax for one. Anyway, the plug is on the block on the passangers side about mid way on the block. IF you need I will try to get a pic. Is there a routing diagram somewhere?? MP
