Engine swap possibilities

It looks like I may have to replace the 6.0 in my 2003 F-250 4WD Auto tranny Crew Cab long bed truck. I would like to stay away from another 2003 and wonder if an 05 or 06 would swap in with minimum changes.

What options do I have and what kind of changes am I looking at? I noticed on car-part.com that there are quite a few different engines for this year. What are the differences? PM's welcome. Advice welcome.

Thanks

Re: Engine swap possibilities

Swapping different year model engines will introduce problems...

At a minimum, you'll need the PCM and wiring harnesses that match the replacement engine...

Re: Engine swap possibilities

Since the ICP, EBP, and glow plug connectors are mounted differently I would say you will need a FICM, FICM harness, engine harness, and PCM to whatever engine model year you get. Also the turbocharger, turbo pedestal, intake manifold, EGR cooler, and y-pipe will be different.

Re: Engine swap possibilities

Thanks for the info. It looks like I may have lucked out as the knocking sound disappeared after replacing one bad injector.

Now to drive it a few hundred miles locally before any long hauls, double check for water, change the oil now and again in a couple of hundred miles.

Any other suggestions? Should I replace the rest of the injectors with the EBRM injector as a precaution?

Thanks.
