Hello I was woundering if any of you guys could tell me if there is a SS 4in down pipe, 5in out, with or without the cat exhaust that I could get for my 04 6.0 SC 6sp
Originally the systems we have were designed with a 4.0 down pipe, after a ton of looking at different Ford dealer inventories we saw that approx 20% of the trucks would have a firewall interference problem with a 4.0 so we all of ours at 3.5 and then the system opens up to 4.0 just after the cat connection. Having had both on my truck I could not see any difference in EGT's or performance either way, just a major potential problem if you happen to own one of that 20% of the trucks where it could interfere with the firewall. To date we have the ONLY no modification system that keeps the cat 100% stock and in it's original form. That helps with the warranty issue and also with emmissions testing. We do have a cat test pipe for off road and racing use as well. call us if we can help you.
We have 4" down-pipe, 5" to the tip systems for the 6.0, only in aluminized steel. Also, these will delete the cat. The price difference between 4" tubing and 5" is pretty substantial so it is doubtful you will find 5" in stainless.
We also have a 'no modification system that keeps the cat 100% stock and in it's original form' in either stainless or aluminized steel. These systems would have a 3.5" down-pipe with 4" to the tip. They are also available in duals too.
Look at Hog Performance. I just got mine yesterday and it looks incredible. The entire system is 304 stainless even the hangers. It is 4" from the turbo with a 5" tip. It looks great. Good quality. You do have to make a mod to the firewall. There is a seem that has to be ported. The system came with a DVD for intructions. Basically you are just folding over the seem. Look them up. I think you'll like it.
The Banks systems are 3.5" from the turbo, but transition to 4" as they go under the truck. They fit and sound great and come with a double wall 5"SS tip.

First off enjoy your ride and second you have asked one of the great questions of our time. You will find that there are as many opinions on which exhaust system is best as there are stars in the sky on a cold winters night. After an extensive search I found that the guys at DPPI were the most helpfull and knowledgeable so that's the main reason that I have purchased everything for my trucks from them. This will probably cause a dozen flaming resposes from folks wanting to defend there selections but call the vendors, talk to them and then make an educated decision.
