HOLY MOLY! What came out of my mouth at the time was something else. I felt like I was in a mustand gt 3 feet in the air!
Found a local willing to uninstall his and let me try it (cost me a bbq dinner). Put it in economy mode.
run #1: 2wd on patchy wet pavement. Started out like factory and then heard the turbo wind up and BLAM! I was moving. First shift point was too soon and very rough, as were then next several gears. Rear end broke loose a little so I backed off. Foot never hit the floor, I'd estimate 75% pedal.
run #2: same setup- shifting still horrible, but I knew what to expect from the power.
run #3: 4wd. Wimped out a little here. First shift point was a small jerk- second chirped the tires. I could hear the front axel and continued to hear it after coming to a stop (is this normal?).
Turned off 4wd (still hear front end) and pulled into a parking lot. Turn off ignition for 15 seconds or so and then restarted.
Next 2 runs in 2wd were much smoother. runs in 4wd were also better, but I still don't know what to expect from the front end- sounds totally different than my 99 expedition 4wd did.
observations/questions:
1. is the new tune relearning the tranny shift points? does that explain the whiplash shifts on the first couple runs?
2. who in the world is running on hi performance? do you wear a helmet & diaper?
3. the switch from 4wd still left the front end grinding- is that normal (probably not related to the 1704)
4. the truck actually got louder and a little rougher at idle. should I have expected that?
I'd sure love to hear some thoughts on my reactions.
Honestly, I don't know if I'd want my wife trying to accelerate onto the highway with the kids and get hammered like that. The power really sneaks up on you. I've heard the Predator is stronger in the low end so maybe that would reduce the sudden power onset. Of course, no one around me sells the predator and says I should either get a Banks or settle for the Superchip (hmmm, $2200 or $400?).

HI,
Front end grinding? not normal! why on earth are you running 4x4 anyways? my super chips barely barked my 37's only if i mashed it. if you want real power get a ts 135 or 165 the superchips is just a toy compared to these

I'm running Econ now and I have to take back what I've been saying. I DO notice les power as well as less smoke, in Econ.
However, I agree on the question, "Why 4x4?". It sounds like you're getting into it then backing off some which will be the worse thing to do. If you nail it, nail it. Shifting will change as the Tranny adapts, but the SC replaces the tranny file, so it's just your truck relearning and adapting. However again, if the tuner is the first revision, your truck could be one of the ones that has some shifting issues; i.e. really hard shifting. If you go WOT it should be hard and quick. The wirse shifting is when you go over 60% throttle but not much over. It's shifting harder for the added power, but you really aren't into the power like you are at WOT.
You should have tried HP. It smokes, but you may also notice shifting a little les harsh, but you'll feel good power pulling until you get skeered and back out!! I haven't had the gonads to take it over 100MPH but one time. From 50 to 90 you'll have a hard time counting!
