i am not a mechanic, but my dad is a retired one. he looked over my shoulder as i did the spring changeover. if i can do it, anyone can; he just sat there and listened to me talk to myself. the only trouble i had was getting the nut on the fuel return line to break free. i applied just a little heat it and popped loose. i had the HFCM drained, and the upper fuel bowl empty as well. took me about an hour to replace the spring and the plate, etc.

as teamroper said, i guess you can do the spring without removing the line, just don't replace the plate. replace the spring only. then the job would be like 30 mins. or so max. i think. biggest pain was the radiator hose for me.

I finally got the fuel regulator spring kit installed. All the parts were installed including the cover. The pressure went from 49-50 at idle to 59-60 psi. Thanks for the help. Bob

I only installed an under hood cheap Autometer 0-100 psi gage( no fluid damping ).
Because I live full time in my 5th and could not risk screwing up and be stranded at a camp ground, I had a dealer install the kit ( $63 ). He did not install one of the O rings properly and the regulator started to vibrate and would not hold pressure.

He repositioned the O ring and the gage now shows 62 psi with no regulator vibration. At idle the gage needle flutters +/- one psi and when in drive at 1500 RPM the needle is a blur between 62 and 66.

Has anyone used a similar direct reading gage and had similar needle behavior ?

I have bleed all the air out of the line. Bob

Your idle pressure is good. However, if your pump is weak and dropping pressure while under heavy load, that is when you will kill your injectors. Can you position your gauge up by the wipers so you can see it while driving down the road under heavy load?
