Help with SCT failure, no start after tune

I let a friend of mine use my SCT live wire on his 03 6.0. He downloaded the tune and drove it around the block to try it out and all was good. When he tried to return it to stock the tuner said "download failure retun to stock." When we tried to return it to stock it says "ECU failure" and now it won't start or do anything except turn on the lights in the cab.

We have tried unplugging the batteries for over 30 min. Ran the DTC and came up with the p0603 which is the KAM fault so no big deal there. Still will not start or even turn over. How can we get the truck running again? SCT help is closed until monday Thank you in advance.

Also without my knowledge my friend tried to use it on another friends ford car. Only plugged it into the OBD port and now that car won't start! ack!!

bump
It seems to me the live wire has fried the computers in 2 vehicles. I don't know how this could happen? I have been searching the net and can't find any soulution's but found a few people that have had the same problem. Anyone else ever had this happen? I never knew plugging in a tuner would blank a computer or I would have never bought one.

I haven't seen an SCT device fry a computer. I do recommend erasing the device completely before swapping it from vehicle to vehicle.

If you loaded a custom tune, it has to be the same strategy or it could load the wrong file on the computer. If so, it won't recognize the ECU type when returning back to stock.

You can email me with the strategy of one of the trucks and I'll email you a stock program to load. It may get you up and running.

Otherwise, I'd give SCT a call on Monday and explain the situation. They can help you load a stock program on the Livewire so you can return the trucks to stock.

Thank you for the reply!
I do not have any costum tunes on my livewire device. I never have. I had my truck back to stock for some time and haven't been using it. When I let my friend try it he used the preloaded performance (extreme) tune. It worked fine but going back to stock is when it messed up. The other vehicle is some sort of a mercury crossover. I have no idea why that car is messed up but it has the same problem as my friends truck, except it was never tuned, just plugged into. I did not tell him to try this, he just did it

I have tuned other vehicles before without having any problems to show them how the tuner works. I have also used it to read DTC's on other fords with no problems. However this is not the first time I have had issues with the tuner it's self. This tuner is only about 2 months old since SCT sent me this one replacing my old one that went haywire twice.

I plan on calling SCT in the morning, but I was hoping to have this resolved this weekend. I was hoping and wishing the problem was fixable without SCT tech support help. Thanks for the help!!

You can use the device on 5 vehicles, after that it has to be returned to stock. This includes using it on another vehicle and then flashing back to one that you had previously used it on. It's not a good idea to swap back and forth, as you will use all the unlocks quickly.
