hog exhaust

Is it any good. Heard a 6.0 with just a cat-back today and it sounded great. Its the only 6.0 I have heard with exhaust. I want to get exhaust and dont want to buy one I havent heard. Also how much power do you think with exhaust and filter? Is it worth buying the downpipe? I really like the whistle. Thanks for the help guys.

Re: hog exhaust

my friend has a turbo back on an 03 and it literally sounsd like a jet about to take off! some of the whine is because of the 03 turbo impeller wheel, but it is real loud. i would definitely opt for the the downpipe- they say its the most important part! intake and turbo back were the first 2 things i did to my truck, and it was significantly quicker. the turbo spools up a lot quicker and felt like it spikes higher. my truck ran dead even with my bros 03 f150 supercrew fx4(when i launched in 2wd), which ran between 10.5 and 10.8 at the 1/8 mile track. after intake and exhaust, my truck ran a 10.1 at 65mph thru the 1/8th mile...

Re: hog exhaust

You think the downpipe is really that big of a deal on the 04s? I heard they were a lot better. Sounds like a really nice improvement on yours. Did you get better gas mileage? Thanks for the help.

Re: hog exhaust

I just put a DPPI on from Mark Craig on Friday. I put the cat back on but the guts "fell out" of the cat when I took it off. Just started it for a guy tonite after dive training because he wanted to hear the noise. He said the only noise he heard was the turbo whistle. Then he proceeded to smile the rest of the way home. Now to find a way to get him to buy a 6.0. Go with the turbo back, you will be glad you did!!!!

Re: hog exhaust

I have put on HOG turbo back on my 03 and a friends 04, the downpipe on the 04 was worlds better than mine. I put the agumentor muffler on and it is not very loud unless WOT w/Edge on high. The extra RPM and fuel of Edge seems to make it alot louder. You can feel increase w/exh & filter but module is the key to power. I am not a good judge of MPG but I think it helped some.

Re: hog exhaust

with airaid and magnaflow turbo back, running around town without the propane, i get true 15-16mpg on every tank- thats not overhead reading- never seen more than 16.0 in the city though. highway, depending on speed of course, but is over 20mpg at 70-75mph cruise. this is with no chip. after fillups, my overhead consistently reads over 500 miles to empty- but as most people agree, overhead is not a great tool to judge by...

Re: hog exhaust

If you like whistle, the turbo back sounds even better than the cat back.

I recently purchased a 4" Hog turbo back from Hog Performance for my 97 Dodge Cummins. Excellent fit, good price and good sound. The truck feels a little stronger. Still looking forward to checking fuel mileage.

I didn't have to make any modifications. However, I didn't have to drive the pieces together with a hammer and a piece of wood.

Correction: I "did" have to drive the pieces together. For some reason there are two pimples on each male end.
