Re: how to get 05 6.0 in the 12's
Are you lifted? If you are lifted, it will take a bit more. If you keep her low, and use lighter wheel/tire combos, you will get there the quickest. In stock drab, you will need around 500RWHP or so. The 400-420RWHP SCT'd trucks are getting in under 14 seconds, and from the ones getting into the 12's, they are around 500. To get to 500RWHP, you can just make it with the stock turbo, but you will need more fuel. Stage II's would do it with the right fuel system to drive them. Cha-cha-ching. After fuel, you should consider an aftermarket IC to cool things down. Cha-ching. Then there is the trans. Won't last too long if you actually use the 500RWHP. Cha-ching. And don't forget the head studs (and if you are smart, you will fire ring it while you are there). Cha-ching. A reliable 12's truck will cost you about $10K, and still won't be as reliable as your SCT'd and piped otherwise stock truck. Not saying you can't do it...you can...but you have to be willing to spend the cash.
I'm sure someone will chime in and say "just add NOS or pane..." Don't listenb to them, they are wrong. It will run great for a couple of weeks then the stuff will start busting. I think it is a big decision for us 6.0 owners. Stay in the sweet spot (SCT and a pipe is basically all you need) and spend, maybe $1000-1500, or go for bust. There is not much middle ground, that is the problem.
Good luck, Ralph
