How much time to install gauges and 86 door chime

Going to install my Isspro gauges from DIS tommorrow. wondering how much time and beer it will take to get the job done? If any one has any tips or tricks that would be great. Also why I'm in there I would like to disconnect the door chime has anyone done this on the 6.0 yet? Thanks for your input.

Re: How much time to install gauges and 86 door chime

see my album

took me about four hours

had to take time with the drilling and tapping and you can't rotate the tap wrench on the exhaust manifold.

I took the intake elbow off to tap it.

Re: How much time to install gauges and 86 door chime

Took me about two minutes to kill the door chime. Just pull out the key/ignition switch from column and place a piece of electrical tape over shiny metal strip on ignition switch, re-install and your done. I haven't tackled a guage install project so no input there. Good luck.

How do you get the ignition out?

Re: How much time to install gauges and 86 door chime

On the underside of the steering column, below the ignition there are some holes. most of them are screw holes and you can see the head of the screw if you look. One of the holes is the release pin access hole. You can kinda figure it out because the correct hole seems out of place for an attachment point.

put the key in the ignition and use a stout wire (I used a large paperclip) to push the button in that hole and turn the ignition cyclinder and pull it out.

Keep in mind you can miss the release tab in the hole with the wire so feel around and go straight in. Its not too far into the hole.

This was one of the best mods I did
