which location for pyro??

I just picked up my triple pillar mount assembly, along with the boost gauge and the pyrometer.(The tranny temp, or what ever else that may be important has to wait. I can only smuggle so much past the war department at once.)
Anyway...my question is this....where is the best spot for the thermocouple probe??? Right at the number one cylinder exhaust port?? Or would it make more sense to put it at the back cylinder exhaust port?(that way it is exposed to the other three when number one is not firing)
The instructions with the probe say that for a turbo engine, install probe 1-2 inches from the turbo exhaust outlet.
What the heck will that tell you?? When your pistons melt at 1400 degrees, the turbo sure won't be that hot down stream.
Any thoughts and/or advice would be very helpful, thanks in advance.

Ivan

Re: which location for pyro??

I have read great info on this site for gauges and installation proceedures, but there is still 1 delema. I would like a decent 2 gauge mount that I can place under the dash above the tranny hump, just to the right of my transfer case shift. Most I have located doing a web search have, for the lack of a better term, cheesy look. Any help? thanks!

Send me your email address and I'll send you a pic of my guages. It is a 3 guage set up right under the cubby hole. Most people that don't know think they are stock.

NOZ
I had mine post turbo and was talked into moving it to the driver side exhaust manifold and I am glad I did. it reacts much quicker and I think it is a much more accurate gauge of what the engine is doing.
