Loudest 6.0

Okay enough beating around the bush. My buddy has a 01 Cumminsand it's stacked, and I want to sh** on him. I have a 2006 6.0 6spd, CFM+largemouth kit, AFE Stage 2, ARP headstuds, currently running the street tune by IPD, 5 inch MBRP but I ordered it with the cat delete option so that I could eventually pass smog, so I have a cat delete pipe in it right now which is basically a 3 1/2 straight pipe as we all know. so basically its a fakie 5 inch. In short, I want the loudest 6.0, I don't care what I have to do. I am a rookie to this, and I am sorry for how stupid this may sound, but I am just a yound powerstroke fan looking to tell then cummins to stick it where the sun don't shine. Born 7.3 naturally aspirated with a banks turbo, learned on it, did my first brake stand in 96 7.3 1ton, got a 6.0, promised my daddy I would never buy or stand down to a Dodge.

Not sure how you're gonna make out on that one, the old 5.9 Cummins are freaking loud completely stock, not to mention bulletproof engines. We had a '99 and an '03 and they are hell for stout. And while I'm a PSD rookie myself, I understand that the 6.0 was pushed to the limit straight from the factory, hence why so many problems came from people tuning them even further.

about the only way your going to beat a cummings is to call river city diesel and order one of thier bullet proof $30,000 6.0's, but there will still be a dodge out there somewhere that will take you!!! or you could always do f250 cummings conversion... my buddy with a dodge makes me look like o threw it in reverse and became a cloud of black smoke. it sucks!!!

Don't think your going to make a 6.0 louder than a cummins. These engines were designed to be quieter. As for being faster that is going to cost you a lot of $$.

Why do you think there's a market out there for converting PSDs to Cummins? Lets face it, put a Cummins in a Ford truck and it'll be the best thing since sliced bread.

ok, as far as making your 6.0 louder. I would suggest changing your turbo out for a 03 6.0 model and running with a straight pipe. Lets say I heard a truck like this from across the walmart parking lot. He was just pulling in and not even working it and it sounded awesome.

b.t.w. In my opinion a cat in a ford would be the best thing since sliced bread. I spent time driving big trucks that had cummings in them just to have cats blow by me on a daily basis to really appreciate cummings that much. the one local company switched back to cat because their head mechanic got blown away hauling a load of empty milk cartons by a 425 cat hauling steel.
but this post isn't about other engines it is about the loudest 6.0 ever.
I know that the turbo trick works and hope other people will sound in with any other ideas and with possible sound bites and or video of their loud 6.0 rigs.

True 5" exaust and straight pipe. These trucks arnt really loud. If your trying to out run the cummins and you have the hottest idp tunes then you next step is to upgrade the sticks and turbo... Add in some fuel system mods and a new clutch. Have fun its gonna be pricey

***? for that much buy a brand new 6.4 throw a DPF delete and a 310 tune and some spray and run high 11 sec high 12 sec 1/4 and the tranny and engine are both reliable. Youll crush some soles with that setup on the street, Cummins, Duramax, Corvette, whatever.

Bought my pickup with a 4" turbo back MBRP exhaust on it with a Resonator. Took it out for Straight pipe and threw a Triple Dog on it. That thing was LOUD AS FU*K!!!!! However I switched over to SCT with custom tunes from Innovative. Awesome tunes, great safety, and great power. For some reason though it quieted it down and now I don't get the volume I used to. So could be such a thing as to get a different chip to make it a little louder. I have found that fuel partly determines loud. Just my opinion.

it was a joke but the 6.4 with those few mods still wouldnt beat the RCD 6.0 so keep spending $$$$. not sure if RCD has a 6.4 built up yet but i imagine they do by now.

Yeah I would go with bigger stacks for loudness, or just cut the exhaust off at the downpipe and leave it, probably not the most legal thing you could do, but a suggestion. Living in California I'm sure you are pretty limited to what you can do legally. Have you "fixed" or EGR? Cold air in and straight out instead of coming back through! Might help a little with airflow through your pipes. Have fun, I 'd like to do the same, my dad has a cummins! BTW, I like your username!

i would bet the volume comes with advanced timing and higher cylindercompression. if you are running one of idp's hot race tunes your not likely to get much more fuel out of the injectors short of ficm tuning and upgrades to the fuel delivery to the injectors. they make more power and do it safer that bully too.
