Would this be a sign that the blue spring update has already been done. I have only had this truck less than a week. Trying to find out everything that has been done to her.

"Most likely" it is. Not the zip-tie but the fact that the fuel regulator cover is a lighter color than the housing is a sure sign that the cover is not stock... which likely means the cover was part of the regulator kit that contains among other things the spring. The spring was updated quite some time ago so we can be pretty safe in assuming the spring is of the updated specification. To be *absolutely* sure you could unbolt the cover and inspect... or... I would check the fuel pressure.

Plus you should have a Fuel Pressure gauge anyway. Cheap insurance. Get a bad tank of fuel that clogs your filter(s) you wouldn't know it till it's too late.

I can't answer for Band Member, but I had my mechanic recommend Amsoil Syn Sabre 2 stroke outboard oil and have been using it in all my 6.0s. The new low sulphur fuel we're getting doesn't supply enough lubrication for the injectors. Now this in only my opinion but it seems to be clearing up alot of our poor starting rough running issues. We use about 1/2 pint per 25 gallons of diesel.

Makes sense, I am running synthetic oil in my 300 Merc for the cleaner burn and lubrication of injectors. Why not in a diesel ? My question would it not have a cabon issue over time or the higher temps of a diesel burning it off ?

Amsoil recommends a 300-500 to 1 ratio. I don't think it's enough to cause a carbon issue. As I said it seems to be helping my fleet and with six 6.0s I'll take all the help I can get.

I just started using Opti-Lube Summer Blend. Bought a gallon for around $60.00 with shipping. Use 2 oz for 30 gallons. One gallon is good for 64 fill ups.

Are you also using a fuel additive ? Cetane boost ? These are suppose to have a lubrication additive for the injectors.

I run the Ford stuff in every tank and once a week drive it like you stole it to keep the egr valve and turbo clean and working, and use a 5w40 syn oil with Ford filters your injectors will like you for it. Get a set of gauges, I like the Edge Insight CTS plug and play. The ScangaugeII works well also.
