Need help with a tuner/chip....

I've read, called, and begged. I thought I was on the right track, but each place I ask, I get a slightly different answer. I'm serious about getting a tuner/chip for my 6.0, but I have a couple specific things I need met. Can anyone help me decide which I need?
My goals:
1. Shut down EGR system ( or as much as possible)
2. Better economy
3. Power as a side affect of the above.

My specifics...
1. I don't want to void my remaining warranty, and my dealer says as long as I'm not stupid, and don't over write my stock computer, they'll be okay with it.
2. Do I really need something with a display??

SO>>> what do I need? Tuner or Chip, and which one? I thought tuner, but now I keep hearing chip!

I really have no one within 1000 miles to ask. Thanks in advance..

Tuners..not chips for a 6.0.
ANY tuner will override the stock programming. Your dealer..if something goes wrong with your motor now will know you have a tunner and kiss your warranty goodbuy.

The only tuners that have the capibility to turn off the egr is the sct xcal3 with custom tunes and the spartan phalanx. The milage gain is not a lot 1-3mpg typically with hot tunes. Performance is awesome though. Yes you need some type of gauges as with the added power temps will dramatically change and be a lot higher than stock if your on the truck. All tuning will woid the warranty if ford finds out about it. You play you need to be willing to pay.

I understand the warranty issues, and totally agree with them. I believe I'll be ok with pumping up the power, because that's not my goal. I use the truck for mostly a daily driver, but light to heavy hauling happens. And with a camper in the near future, it'll be a traveler too.

With all I've seen on powerstrokehelp.com, I was leaning on the SCT, but last week I was told that it was "Only for racing!", wasn't as Plug and Play as I thought, and that it made "Obvious , Dramatic, and Permanent" overwrites on the truck, as opposed to the typical "hard to find" temporary tuning you all are doing here. Hope that makes sense.

Anyhow, thanks for responding. I'm back on the SCT, and hope to have it soon.

To add a little, I meant in my first post that an easily removable tuner is ok with my Dealership....Hell, they have Edge tuners on their trucks!

The sct works by saving the stock file and using a custom tune and yes it is good for racing gains but the tuning part is up to the end user and not limited to all out performance. The edge device they use does not tune the tranny and that can cause problems. Edge has re done their tuning and basically detuned them because of the bad erp they had. No matter what tuning device and or claims made get some type of a monitor or gauges for your egts if nothing else. Also no matter what anyone says towing is hard on the truck and I would never tow heavy with out either setting my truck to stock or using a towing program. When I have tried to tow even a small boat with a hot tune I am fighting the high egts. I have a stock motor and run a 170hp tune as a daily driver and for everything short of towing it fits my needs. I think shift on the fly is overrated. I can get good mpgs and have a race truck if needed for the 90% I drive when I tow I switch programs. I will say that my tow tune is a pretty quick file just not as peppy as the race file. The tow tune is 100% better than stock as far as performance loaded or not.
