New Poster Needs Direction 06 PS

First off, let me say that I am green as one can be when it comes to mechanic work so please keep that in mind.
Im on my second f250 diesel truck. First was a 7.3 xl work truck had problems almost from day one with bad noise which 2 different dealers said was normal. However at 60,000 miles transmission started to slip. Dealer said torq converter plates were the reason for the noise and that would also need new tranny. Thousands later traded it in for the 06 crew lariat with 8ft bed. I love my truck but now at 37000 miles cold start runs rough and misses for first 5 minutes or so than runs great rest of the day.

Found this site and have now discovered here that there are some inherent problems with the 06 (EGR cooler and oil filter kit).

Ive been to bullet proof diesel......Am I on the right track? Do others make these kits? Is this even related to my current problem or something i should do any way. (I plan on driving this truck to the wheels fall off or at least I had). Does any of this affect the PS warranty at the dealer? All input is appreciated.

I doubt the Bulletproof Diesel parts you mention are going to help a rough cold start issue. Generally, that problem is related to either oil (too thick for the climate), injectors (stiction) or the Fuel Injection Control Module (FICM) going bad.

The Bulletproof Diesel parts will help with long term reliability but yes, they will adversely affect any warranty you have left.

I guess this was the right place for the thread after all. Ive read about the FICM going bad and got the PDF on how to attempt the repair but "stiction" will require more reading.

37000.........if i did not have bad luck I woudnt have any. lol

Just a thought. You might want to check out Lubrication Specialties. They have this stuff called hot shots secret. I had the exact same problem. It's $50 and they have a money back guarantee. It fixed my injectors within 100 miles.
