Oil pressure gauge sender location? - Diesel Forum

I am wanting to install the "actual" oil pressure gauge I had in my 97 in my '05 6.0L. The '97 had a handy orifice at the front of the block. Is there a similar location on the 6.0L?

I hear a lot of guys putting them in the top of the oil filter cap. I also would like to know too. Kind of would be a pain changing oil every time to unhook the wires, or unthread it from the cap so you could use the socket.

It's right next to the base of the filter.

Has anyone hooked it up there? I think that I have tried to look for it on the truck, but couldnt find it or stuff was in the way. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif[/img]

Climb up there and look down just behind and slightly left of the filter buried down between all the $hit. I had my bypass filter pressure line plumbed out of the pressure switch port for 2 years until I removed it last month. Giterdone!

Snoboy, are you indicating I should remove the oil pressure switch and replace it with my autometer sending unit?

There's no easy way to access the oil pressure test port, huh?

My bad! I thought you were doing a mechanical gauge. You'll need a street T and a sending unit adaptor so you can tap both sending units into the same spot [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bleh.gif[/img]. Or you could buy the Oilgaurd filter 6.0 filter cap and put the Autometer sender in it. Looks cool [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif[/img] and less PITA then the aforementioned method. I have the FS-2500 bypass and could probably get a T for the cap. But since there are two un-used ports in the filter housing I'm going to try the un-used pressure port.
