I did both from that location. It's best to use an aftermarket billet cap. The factory cap is not really adequate to drill and tap. I already did that too. Look in my Photos section.

I did the same; billet cap with both pressure and temp sensors hooked up. Works well for me. I think I got the amsoil cap as I needed it quickly and they had it in stock at the time. The sensors that came with the gauges I had put in (SPA Techniques) have disconnects in the wiring down by the sensors so it's still easy to take the cap off for filter changes.

thx for the pics...makes it easier than trying to visualize....how hard are oil filter changes with that setup

Firematt71:

On the one side of the 'T', I unscrew the braided oil pressure line where it connects to the 'T'. The other side of the 'T' is for the oil pressure sending unit, which has a plastic quick-connect about 6" away from the 'T'.

Removal of those two items takes an extra 2 minutes to accomplish prior to unscrewing the billet cap. I leave the 'T' undisturbed, and use an adjustable wrench to remove the cap.

I know this is an old thread, but I just found this forum and have been trying to figure out how to run an oil temp sensor. Where do I get the tees that hook up to the top of the oil filter cap? Does this location give accurate temps?
