Power Hungry Performance FICM installed

Just finished a few test runs with the modded FICM. Initial results show quicker turbo spooling is the biggest gain. I have a SCT tranny tune running with stock PCM tuning. I'll be driving this for some MPG numbers to see if there's any gains.

I did try my Xzilliraider on Stage 1 (60hp)and 2 (120HP) settings with good running results. I'm happy it's working well with the QUAD module since I switch back and forth between the SCT tuning as needed for towing.

I will get the SCT on with the FICM as I get done with each configuration.

This will be a bit of a long term test so don't expect me to post results everyday. Ask any questions, I'll give you what I have read or experienced myself.

Programming the FICM does help. We have a mild version, similar to an early stock file like you are runing, but with a little extra gain in power. I have race versions, but they are for large injector and large turbo trucks. 70+rwhp gain over stock FICM programming on the dyno.

I'm working on programming to meet the needs in between the mild and race versions. We are doing core swaps on the FICM, but will have a handheld ready soon.

For the record, when I refuel I filled up the neck to the top so I can have a reference for the fuel being filled to the same level.

1/2 tank gone= 355-360 miles as indicated on the cluster.
Refueled with 31+ gallons and 505+ miles on the odometer for a total of 16.2+ MPG.

Seems a bit over normal as far as MPG but the milage indicated was up. I'm still hoping to see some additional gains in MPG in the future, I was hoping for more up front.

Power is increased and throttle/turbo response is much better than stock. So far the FICM seems like a good start for those wanting to stay safe with adding power and possibly MPG gains. Don't expect to smoke the tires or anyone posting a stoplight challange!

This is great information. I have been picking Eric's brain lately about the FICM tuning and today I found someone local to install it. I will be ordering Eric's after the last round of emails are answered. I can't wait to try it out with the new Xtreme Race tune I am ordering.

Are you running larger injectors or turbo? From my reading the "Extreme FICM" is better off with the upgrades.

Just an update for those wanting some long term results. I have been very pleased with the PH FICM tuning. There is a positive power gain with excellent turbo response. THis will not eliminate the turbo lag but it does help. I haven't gained the MPG like I was hoping but a small increase (1MPG?) has been noticed. I have found I adverage 16.5 MPG with mixed driving. I would suspect if I have to take a long road trip I could easily squeeze out 600 miles using the 38 gal tank while running the heavy 35" MT ATZ. If I dropped to my stock tires HWY total may reach 700 or better. That is all pure speclation for me but with the driving I do I feel pretty sure I could hit that mark. I have now shifted to using the FICM with the SCT tuning at the same time. I'll post up those results as I continue to drive and the PCM settles in the SCT tune.

Please remember that no two trucks are the same and your results may vary from mine.

I love mine, the biggest mpg gain is on trucks that have recieved the latest ford flash which murdered the mpg on the the earlier trucks (03/04's)the most. 05-07's seemed to gain some but not as much as the 03/04. At least in my experience anyway.

Jeremy, are you saying there is a flash that is new right now that gives back some of the mpg stolen from the "mpg killer" flash that was flashed about 1-1/2 years ago?

No, I'm saying the trucks that have recieved the latest flash get the most mpg gain from the PHP FICM reprogram. Because it and the previous flash were the mpg killers.

sorry about that.
