programer for an 03 6.0?

I'm looking to get a programer for my 03 and just wanted some imput. I know chips and tuners are a pretty hot topic on here, but I don't really have time to go through and read all the threads because I'm on company time. Anyways my question is, I want to dump some black smoke and get a few extra horses, but don't want to blow head gaskets. Am I dreaming or is this possible? Thanks for any help!

Here is a good thread you should read
Banks VS Blown Head Gasket

I'd make sure that you want to chance stretching the head studs, thats what the 6.0's are prone to especially since it is an 03'

Only tune that is going to billow the smoke is an agressive tune. (black smoke is unburnt fuel)

Along with the unburnt fuel is ALOT of boost.

A "safe" tune will smoke, but not near as much as the agressive.

btw here is some advice, we hear all the excuses not to use the search button, u can think that..just dont say it in a post thats a quick way to get no responses.

Dont just jump in with no research and get a tuner, you will be sorry.

Happy Modding

I did some research on powerstrokehelp.com for my 03...A sct tuner and 4" exhaust would be a great combo...I got the exhaust but now saving for the tuner...my dad has the superchips on his 04 set on ecomomy and still puts out black smoke...and killer mileage.

I thought your not supposed to chip 03 6.0?

I keep reading about all the problems you can run into, vs leaving it alone

03's have had more than their fair share of problems...saying that "you're not supposed to chip an 03" is misleading...keep reading...

if you want a really reliable 6.0, there are things you need to do, no matter what the power level or MY..

well I went with the sct x3 from ID. I had a few issues downloading codes to it but after a few e-mails and phone calls to sct we got it figured out. I have it set on extreme, the truck blows black smoke and pretty much hauls ass
