Alright ive been pretty much sold on the edge juice platinum with attitude but i have been reading a lot about the SCT tuners. Im just looking for a description of how they work woth the custom tunes and everything. Im completely new to the diesel world and trying to learn as much as I can before i throw any money into my truck. So how does this thing work? Do you order a few different tunes, like say 1 for milage and another for power and another one maybe for towing? And if you do how is it switching from one to another? And do they have any trans safety features like defueling with the edge?
you buy the tuner. either from another source or from that specific dealer. they send you the tuner. you plug the tuner into the obd2 port on your truck go thru the menus and fid the trucks strategy. when you get the strategy you email the company you want the tunes from with your strategy and or course payment. they email you a file back, you use the software from sct to load the tune from email zip file to the tuner. then put the tune on the truck using the tuner. get in burn out. if foe some reason you do not like the way the tune runs you contact the company tell them what you dont like about the tune and they can adjust parameters and send you a new tune to "tweek" it. most offer all kinds of tunes. personally id get a nice street tune with 5-8k tow rating, a heavy tow with turbo braking, and a race tune. this would pretty much cover you bases. the econo tunes dont get the mpgs of the race tunes when driven conservatively

The custome tuned SCT also tunes the tranny, for safety and best performance.Personally I use Innovative Diesel, Eric writes awesome tunes and is great to deal with.

So for the 6.0 liter the best edge can do is 100hp on level 5 and another 15 with the hot shot. The sct goes as high as anything you tune it to? or does it have a top hp as well all while still giving me the safety?
He'll write your tunes to whatever you have done to your truck (stock, upgraded injectors, or turbo, or whatever else) So the sky's the limit.I beleive w/ a stock truck and the Extreme tune RWHP is 420HP/720lbft.I'm sure these other guys can help me out.But beware you need to take precautions when adding power like headstuds and so on.

A street tune typically is 120-130hp over stock. A race tune is 140-170hp over stock. Anything over 170 is typically a competetion tune. All values given are based off of tune names and ratings from them. For a stock motor 420-450 is tops. I think granny got 450 with live tuning on a dyno file before injectors.

The sct will let you use a non vgt turbo, bigger sticks as well where the edge will not. Also the ratings are on stock turbo/sticks
