I am currently in the market for a SCT tuner. And I've read that Innovative is the place to get it. I am curious if anyone is running the tunes with PI and having minimal running/starting problems with it. I don't want to waste my money on a PI tune if I am going to have problems with it. I have prevoiously owned a 02 7.3 that was programmed by Jody at DP-Tuner and there tune was excellent. Anyone heard anything good about Jodys SCT 6.0 litre tuning?
I thought I read that the problem with PI was that the oil chamber on the injector couldn't refill fast enough to keep up with PI. It's also more wear and tear on the injectors. PI quiets the idle, and it gives a little better off-idle performance, but other than that it doesn't do much. I was also told that if you had an 03-04 and it was reflashed by Ford that all the memory was used and there was no room to store the code necessary for PI.
Thanks for the info. I guess i'm out of luck on quieting the beast a little. Dang ford has done used all the memory trying to get this thing to run. Is Chevy having this many problems with the Duramax?
Who cares?

I have PI in an ID Economy Tune. As my injectors have gotten older, injector sticktion has made the PI less effective in cold weather or even when the engine is not warmed up in warm weather.
To really work well, the engine would need a reflash to correct injector sticktion, but that reflash removes the PI tables from strategy.
The reason the duramax won't have problems with PI is that it's a common rail system. Those injectors can inject multiple times per combustion event because there's a lot less moving parts than HPOP injectors like our motors have. There were two different claims about the new Ford HPCR system on the 6.4: One stating they could do 11 distinct injections per combustion event, and another stating 5 injections per combustion event. The 6.0L HPOP system effectively does 1 injection per combustion event.
Exactly meaning Ford is behind the Diesel game by about 6 years. Which is I think when the Duramax was introduced. Meaning Ford should not have produced the 6.0 without common rail injection.
