SINISTER coolant filter INSTALL "W/PICs"

Just put on a Sinister Coolant filter kit yesterday.
Install time 30min
Tools needed 1- 10MM deep socket
2- 8MM deep socket
3- RAZER blade or some sort of cuting tool.

1- remove 10MM bolt from right Rad suport (The one with the star arount it) for the slow people :-)

2- remove the 8MM bracket from boost tube to turbo. (For easy cutting and install)

3- find heater core hose under boost tube

4- bolt on Sinister Coolant filter housing and lay out hosseseses.

5- cut heater hose before (heater vac valve)

6- place hose clamps on heater hose before instralling the blue T....

7- use 8MM socket to install hose clamps.

8- reinstall boost tube.

9- cut and install brass (T) to rad over flow tube

10- Install wix filter, open ball valves.

11- Start truck and check for leaks.....

ALL done... Install time was 30min or so.... you DO NOT need to drain any coolant just have a fet rags under the heater hose when you cut it.

DO NOT do this install when the truck/coolant is HOT....

Nice installation and great that you took the time to take photos and share the process to help others. Hopefully the Mods will make posts like this Stickys so they're easy to find since a lot of people are doing these upgrades.

I just installed the Diesel Storm kit last week. You might not want to wait so long to change the first filter. Keep checking how hot the filter is with the engine at operating temperature . if the filter is cool then it is plugged. time to change it. I'm going to swap my first filter out at appox 1000 miles which would be about 6 weeks based upon my driving habits or sooner if it is cool to the touch when the engine is at O/T.

Again, great post. Thanks for taking the time and sharing the info and pics. Best regards.

I've got the Dieselsite kit and my first filter needed to be changed at around 700 miles. You will be amazed at all the s*it in your coolant if you cut the filter open.

Thanks for taking the time to share.

I've got the Sinister kit sitting in a box waiting to be installed. Doing to whole flush thing, just pulled the starter to install Fumoto valves in the block.

Awesome job with the pics!

I have the Sinister kit on the way, should be here Monday according to UPS. I also have a question: Is the turbo boost tube hard to remove and reinstall?

TIA.

You do not have to remove the boost tube just loosen the top clamp pull tube out of boot swing to side lay on top of alternator. You will have plenty of room.
