Does anyone know what the size is of the stock exhaust on the 03? I bought my truck used and have been noticing diesels around town with what appear to be smaller diameter exhaust pipes. I know that no one would modify their trucks with a smaller pipe and was wondering if the previous owner added a larger exhaust. The diameter of the pipe is approximately 3 1/2 inches. He did remove the muffler. Also there is a "tin foil" wrapping around the down pipe, is this stock? (I will try to get pictures if it stops raining.)

3" downpipe into a 3.5" from there back is what the stock system is. The "tin foil" was standard on the 03's. I understand it was deleted in later years.

Yep. The stock '03 6.0 has a 3" DP going to 3.5" at the cat. The foil on the DP conceals how crimped and restrictive it is. I like my MBRP mandrel-bent setup: 3.5" DP going to 4" at the cat.
