SPEED LIMITER

Is there any way to disable the speed limiter without a chip or controler. I've had both and don't want one on this truck but hate it shutting down at 97mph.

Re: SPEED LIMITER

What's the point?... you only have another 3mph to go and all your gauges will cycle to zero anyway. You'll have to have someone running next to you to tell you how fast your vehicle-with-too-high-a-center-of-gravity-for-running-that-fast is going even if you do find a way to disable it.

Re: SPEED LIMITER

When you hit the speed limiter turn your key as if to start your truck, the starter will not engage, and floor it.

It should bypass the limiter. It does on mine.

Re: SPEED LIMITER

Quadzilla sells a standalone speed delimter, that works with all or no module at all.

Re: SPEED LIMITER

Danster, just curious. How did you happen to discover how to disable the speed limiter using the ignition switch. I would have been afraid to turn it to start but I guess on an auto tranny in gear the starter is disabled any way.

Re: SPEED LIMITER

Somebody wrote it here once. It works great. Has something to do about fooling the computer that's it at 0 mph. The starter does not engage when driving.

Re: SPEED LIMITER

Be advised this practice is far from safe. The ABS system is inoperable while this happening, so don't wreck. You will also have one hand on the key for the duration of the test leaving you with only one hand to control the vehicle at 130+ mph, not good.

Don't try this at home.

Did you know that while going 50mph in high gear you can slam it in reverse and hit the throttle full bore and nothing happens.... Darn thing will just coast....

Re: SPEED LIMITER

danster,

Is this each time you want to exceed 97 or just once and it stays overridden?

Re: SPEED LIMITER

I believe it only lasts 10 seconds or so.

IF you let go of the key? or if you continue to hold it in the start position, the truck will continue to speed up?

Re: SPEED LIMITER

Are you asking me or telling me? Don't think I am dumb enough to try it. They make products designed to do this sort of thing, it is not something IMO that you should jack with.

Re: SPEED LIMITER

Why would I spend $200.00 on a device that does the same thing as me turning the key??

It works awesome...and if you have an Edge with Attitude, it is still protecting your engine from high temps!!

A GPS works better then your speedo anyways....plus you can show your friends that were not there that your truck does go faster than theirs...just show them the GPS. (Save your highest limits)
