stacked box and programer???

I was wondering if it was posible to stack a box and a programer on a 6.0? I herd of a few duramax's doing this with some success.

Re: stacked box and programer???

Rademac,

Well I wondered when someone would come up with this thought besides me. I have already talked with Predator about it and of course they said it's functionally possible but not advisable, they have to cover their you know what etc. But the fact that they knew it was possible tells me that it's probably already been done, so time will tell. I have 6.0 Predators on back order so the day I get them I'll post about it etc.

Huuum, lets see, and Edge Juice at 100 RWHP, and a Predator at 100 HP level, Uh oh this sounds too much like fun for me.

Re: stacked box and programer???

I question how wise this is...the Edge and Quad boxes are doing fuel and timing both. Running a "programmer" that does more fuel and timing will probably only succeed in a ton of smoke from too much fuel and noisy operation from too much timing. We already know that mods are not "cumulative", so a 100hp "box" with a 100hp "programmer" will not equal 200hp. I'd be surprised if it equaled 150hp due to the fact that you're not dealing with one set of fuel/timing tables, but 2 that are not designed to work with each other. Now you're at the point of diminishing returns as far as hp/$. It would make much more sense to run a set of injectors and a "box" that is tuned for them...IMO.

If you haven't figured it out, I'm not big of "stacking". I think that you can get the same HP with properly tuned mods that are designed to work with each other. Stacking an Edge box on top of a chip or programmer (7.3L) worked for some people, but for many it turned on the SES light for "ICP Out of Range" or "ICP Over/Under Desired". It also turned up the EGTs in many cases, necessitating more mods to keep them under control. I suspect that "stacking" the 6.0 will result in similar problems.

Stay tuned...I'm sure that Quad and Edge and others will continue to develop their programming to make more HP. I'm sure that more companies will release injectors with "boxes" that are tuned to make the most of them. I'm sure we'll find that a properly tuned "unstacked" setup will make as much or more power than a "stacked" one...just like in the 7.3L world. Of course, this is just my gut feeling. I did not consult with Quad or Edge or anyone else before posting this. Don't go calling Quad or Edge saying that "Dennis said you were making a higher HP box...blah blah blah"...
