Re: Straight pipe?

I bought the pipe from ITP Diesel. It was louder, but above 2200 RPM it just didn't sound right, more like a chevy chevette needing a muffler.

I ended up buying a DPPI kit and love'n it.

My 0.02,
Scott

Re: Straight pipe?

I had a straight pipe for a couple of months and just couldn't take the noise , so I put the muffler back on. You just have to try it yourself. Doesn't cost that much to do.
I must admit, it sounds awsome when you get on it , but for everyday driving around... It got on my nerves! The drone at 70 - 80 mph was very anoying! I don't beleive it helped my performance very much. I have the MBRP turbo back -the kitty, and it sounds great!

If you have an MBRP as well, I'll sell you the muffler delete pipe cheep!

Good luck,
James

Re: Straight pipe?

I noticed when shopping around for exhaust that hog performance said the 03 6.0's have a different sounding turbo compared to the 04's

Re: Straight pipe?

Cutting the muffler out was one of the first things I did to my truck. I'm thinking about cutting off the cat "when the warrenty runs out!"

Re: Straight pipe?

I made my own straight pipe awhile back from stock exaust removed from a 7.3. I put the offset bend in it like the stock muffler, It was obnoxiously loud at RPM's over 2000. I just recently made another one without the curvature in it. it is a straight piece of pipe removed from a 6.0 after the cat. it bolts right in after adding 5" to it. The sound is pretty much stock then you get a little bit of rumble after about 2000 RPM. You have to have the window rolled down to hear it hope this helps. Jerry
