Superchips version 5.03 after almost 6 weeks

I sent my SC1704 in to "Vic" at Superchips to fix the harsh shifting and the hanging in gear. It is back 6 weeks later because "Vic" had to spend over a week testing and changing the shifting program. Don't ask where the other 4.5 weeks went. Now it has stock like shifting unless full throttle where you get a firm, quick shift which is needed. The power delivery is the same as the previous unit which I wish was more like the Quadzilla. If only I could have the power of the Quad 160 and the shifting of the SC1704. I do like the SC shifting under full throttle at 3900 rpm, it screams!

So:

*The harsh shift is gone.
*No slips whatsoever.
*No more "hanging" in gear.

The SC1704 version 5.03 is much more refined.

Mark

Does version 5.03 give you any smoke? I have version 5.01 and it hardly throws smoke, just a little when I get on it in the HP mode.

Well....Well...Well...finally huh? Mine seemed to fix itself after putting on 39.5" tires...seemed to cure the "rough" shifting....maybe the extra weight of the tires?

What? Mine smokes like a coal train in the HP mode. Very little in the Economy mode and like stock in the Tow Mode. I keep it in the tow mode most of the time.

Re: Superchips version 5.03 after almost 6 weeks

Mine was updated to 5.01 back in the summer and shifting was the only thing that changed. I've heard some with 5.02 say smoke was greatly decreased. Mine will still smoke like a train in HP and stil pretty good in Econ. pretty easily. I'm running Tow Tune now (for the first time for any length of time) and I'm much happier with shifting (stock shift points) than with HP or Econ still. Econ and HP are much better now, but Tow is much better running around town.

I'd be happy, but I found out after, that 5.01 did not in fact support the latest '04 reflash so I'll have to send mine back "again" for a new flash. Or, try something new.

Any other changes that you can see/feel?

PS. I have my EGR disco'd right now until I can get it in for a new EBP, and I noticed less smoke while disco'd that while it's connected. Could be something to the "more air" theory.

Re: Superchips version 5.03 after almost 6 weeks

Family,

The shift points are at the stock setting unless WOT in all settings. Only at WOT will you shift later. The Econ file seems like a full throttle on/off switch as far as power delivery, I am going to try HP this afternoon and see if I get any better lowend. I know the tow mode has lowend but I like top end as well. Again the Quad has the best power delivery but I want my tranny line pressure increased as well.
