for the Tech's & exhaust brake

To the Tech's. Have you ever seen a 6.0 psd with an exhaust brake? In particular the BD brake. If so did the motor have problems because of the brake? I have heard not to use one but have never heard from anyone that is actually using one. So I am looking for facts not fiction. I know this subject has been discussed but I still need some more info. The BD brake talks to the turbo and sensors so I would think it should be safe to use. I just wonder if the excess exhaust would coke up the motor?
Thanks Mike

Re: for the Tech's & exhaust brake

The brake will only cause problems if you were to leave it on 100% of the time. Once the brake is opened and you get on it you clean out any build up. I installed one on a customers truck and it worked well.

Tadd Thanks for the response. I drive a lot of hills with the horse trailer and I would like the additional safety for me and my horses.

An exhaust brake and a Jake Brake are 2 different things so I'd say no, if you're looking for that true "Jake Brake" sound a rig with one makes.

Re: for the Tech's & exhaust brake

I know they are to diffrent things, I love the sound of a jake brake, but they dont make them for a 6.0 so I was woundering if the exhaust brake had a loud sound to it like a jake brake, or close to one?

Re: for the Tech's & exhaust brake

Well, it seems not many use an exhaust brake. In my research it seems safe to use one. I have yet to hear from any one that has had any motor fail-er related to the brake. Since the BD brake releases exhaust back pressure way before what the motor can handle I would assume that it is safe on the valves and heads and all. I am thinking its time to get one installed. If and or when I do I will report back on my experience with it.
