Top speed

I took my truck out on a road way out in the country. On GPS 131 mph at 3900rpm the tires are stock 265-75-16s the truck would of went faster it just hit the rev limiter. On my truck the speedo is off when the speedo is reading 70mph the real speed is 66mph at 100mph speedo real speed is 95mph. The truck is a 03' four wheel drive, four door, short bed,373 gears the tires measures 31 inch. Doing the math if you had 285s 33 inch tire the truck would run 138.91 yes, I think the truck will pull it because it pulled the rev limiter easy. I am real please with top of 131mph my old truck 01' powerstroke ran 125 mph with 35 inch tires.

Re: Top speed

The Excursion with a TS box, Exhaust, AFE filter, will pull just about 139, on my Garmin aviation GPS. The 2wd, Excursion has a lot less frontal area, and less C/drag than a 4wd dual PU. I don't recommend this on stock wheels and tires. One of my clients in Ft. Lauderdale has an EX with 20 inch Weld wheels and V or Z rated Nitto's. I have not driven it, but it looks like a real bad boy with the big wheels on it. Regarding the stock brakes: Don't even think they are up to this.

Re: Top speed

Doing the math for more rpm just 200 more rpm and the wind drag being less with two wheel drive it could happen. Your truck my a higher rev limiter, 200rpm is not that much. One thing is for sure over 130 in one of these truck is too fast and thay will do it. I ran the truck stock first did 117 mph it may have done 120 with a lot of road I was just seeing if the limiter, had been taking off. I was at 3236ft from sea level and you might of lower in better air.
