Tranny Temp Gauge for Manual Trans-6 sp.?

I have a manual trans and was thinking of adding a tranny temp gauge, basically for fun. I already have the Pyro. My question is do any of you have a trans temp gauge in your manual? Does it ever get hot, or move high? I don't know what the "normal" range would be for this gauge in a manual. I do tow a 8000lb travel trailer in the summer. Fabcraft sells a nice clean looking plate that replaces the PTO cover on the manual trans. It has a npt already threaded and ready to go.

Thanks, Pat

Re: Tranny Temp Gauge for Manual Trans-6 sp.?

My 5 speed on my '95 used ATF.. I would say you'd want to stay under 220 degrees for a sustained period... There were times when I was running 70+ when the fluid would get up there, but my old truck had no cooler... To answer your ? I would'nt worry about it unless you run max GCVR at High speeds...
