so I have about 150 miles on my Icon 4.5" kit. truck drives good on the highway, fine around my house. I was told to see if there is a vibe as I have a CC and I may need the carrier shim kit. nothing I can really feel during normal driving before today. now there is a road a few towns over that has some "bumps" in the road. kind of like where the road was pushed together in one spot and made a hump across the roadway. well....I went over one today at about 50 mph and the truck started to VIOLENTLY shake. I thought a wheel was falling off and i jammed the brakes. got down to 25mph or so and it stopped. hit another one and it started again. came up to a 3rd one and got off the gas to coast over it...same thing. I mean...the truck is litterally jumping around back and forth violentyl and make me pretty nervous...nervous enough to take the lift out. no way can this be related to the carrier not being shimmed can it?? thanks for all your help
I am almost 100% positive, your factory steering stabilizer is wore out. There is also a FORD TSB, that will tighten your gearbox down. I prefer going w/ the DR/ICON Dual stabs. Even though it is pricey, it is worth its weight in gold. Ford really messed up, putting the steering stab where they did, FYI.

this truck sees no offroad..is it worth the coin?? benefits?
Definately worth the coin. I have a 6 inch lift with dual pro comp stabilizers and the truck handles great. My truck only sees offroad when I pull into my jobsite parking lot. I have taken a few rides in my buddies F250 with a 6 inch lift without stabilizers and his hand looks like it is going to snap off when we get on some wornout roads.

Yes it is def. worth the extra money. Just as you purchased the Icon lift over anything else. It is all backed by a lifetime warranty. Your lift is not causing it, its the wider oversized tires, taking over the factory steering stab.
When it gets bad enough, alot of people notice the EXACT same conditions w/ a no lift and factory tires. DR/Icon stabs solve the problem!

I don't know everything about this phenomenon as the leaf spring trucks don't have this issue but IIRC, there is a TSB about it and I believe it has to do with a front end alignment.
I'd check into that first before spending ANY money on anything else. You may be only masking a potential hazard that will get back at you down the road.

you know why the leaf-sprung trucks dont have it ?? Its because Ford put the steering stab in the CORRECT place, along the tie-rods, close to the tires.
In 05+ they are along the drag-link, opposite the steering box. The way they positioned it, it actually MAKES death wobble. But each to its own. I have an 07, and corrected my death wobble. My truck drives PERFECT w/ no issues. I simply REMOVED the factory stab, and installed the ICON dual stab. It solved all of my issues.
Ive also installed several of these dual stabs on 05+ STOCK trucks, and the customers call back the next day, thanking me. I must be doing something right.

Where can I get one? My stock one is starting to be an issue.

Did I strike a nerve?? I didn't mean to, I was just trying to help the guy out.
I stated in my post that I didn't know that much about it. I do know the the TTB set-up had the same issue. Was that stabilizer set-up the same design??
Thanks, are the shocks they offer any good or should I get others? The 5500 series they offer are the same brand as the kit so it should probably be fine.
Let me know, if you get a chance. Thanks for the info.
I guess im lucky but i have a 6" lift with 37's and i dont have a problem. I definitely have a shim kit though. I was told to get a steering stabilizer but i have not got around to it yet, but i have not had any problems.

Talk to Marty or Kevin @ Truck Toyz. They prob. have Bilsteins in stock for the kit, but im not sure. Just ask them :-)
