TS 5X Downloader

Does anyone have any recent experience using this product. I have a 2005 Excursion and was wondering about it's safety and performance.

Thanks.

Re: TS 5X Downloader

I ran one for a long while, and it does great. Its not the most power, but that wasn't what TS was trying to do. Good power, and good shifting.

Re: TS 5X Downloader

I have been running the 100 hp program for well over a year now. No issues, very little smoke even off the line at full throttle. Trans shifts awesome, and egts under normal conditions are about 100 Degrees lower than stock. I have towed 10,000 + lbs with the 100 hp flash and it is difficult to hit 1300 degrees egt. It would hit 1300 + when it was stock with the same load, and stock the trans never shifted good. Also I noticed about 3/4 mpg gain in my around town driving, and when I head from Chicago to upstate NY to visit the folks, my mileage went from about 16.5 average to 18.5 mpg. I usually set the cruise on 75 mph. I did manage 19.8 on a trip to Indianapolis during the summer (also cruise set on 75). All of these mileage figures are hand calculated, and on the highway I fill it until no more will go in to get as accurate as possible. Overall I am extremely happy with TS Performance, and would buy from them again. If you are looking for a downloader with a fancy screen that can pull codes, that might be a slight disadvantage over some other programmers out there, but I have a Snap-on Solus ( and a buddy at a Ford dealer who will scan it for me if the Snap-on doesnt find the problem ), so that was not a concern to me. The power is pretty linear across the entire rpm range, where the Edge I had before was like a light switch ( dead off the line until it got moving ).

Hope this helps,

JR
