Re: turbo cough????

It does not do it stock. I'm just wondering if all programs normally do that. I also noticed an oil mist on top of the motor near where the downpipe connects to the turbo. I have heard of the turbos failing would this be a sign that mine is starting to go? And the additional fuel is too much for the turbo?

I would have to say that is NOT normal with programs and everything working properly.
But you could be having turbo issues and with the timing and fuel change causing the problems.
At one time I was running a higher level and it eventually cause a #4 injector code when I changed to level #2 no more codes.
Since then I had #4 injector replaced May 06 and the Turbo replaced Oct 06 and I`ve kept the Edge on Level #2 runs and just fine now.

I would clean the area and try to track down where the oil is comming from,it could be comming from the steel bradded line that feeds oil to the turbo from the top of the engine next to the oil filter left side.
The code could be a hard code only and not show up with your scanner, that happen with my Turbo it showed up on my Edge Att. for a few minutes but dissapeared and then showed "no trouble codes found",but it was still in a hard code which is only detected when Ford checks it out.

Re: turbo cough????

If it is turbo fart you guys are talking about, that is a well know phenomena. When you let off the accelrator after WOT, the high pressure air reverses through the turbo. What you hear is the air passing through your intake.

Re: turbo cough????

It does not appear to cause any harm. Atleast no one has posted that there is a problem. Just a new sound.
