Got a question here for anyone who has the time.
I am wanting to install a TTM on my 6.0L. I am pretty sure I am going to order the ISS PRO TTM. Here is my dilemma. I am eventually goiong to put guages on my truck -Pyrometer, Boost, Tranny temp, on the pillar but won't have the resources to do that for a little while. In the meantime I would like to put the TTM on asap, I don't like having to wait for a while after shutdown to allow turbo to cool. I was told that it is better and less work to install the pyrometer and TTM at the same time becaus re-installing a Pyrometer after the fact makes for more of a hassle with rewiring and such. Can anyone give any good reccomendations on order of attack? Wait untill everything can be done all together TTM and Guages? Buy the TTM install and do guages later? Just looking for the best most efficient way to do this from people who have been in this or a similar position before. What have you all done? Thanks

Heavyhitter, please excuse my question as I do not have a lot of experience with diesels. But, what it a TTM and what purpose does it serve ? If it will keep me from having to let the truck sit at idle for several minutes after driving to allow the Turbo to cool down, I would be very interested. TIA.

Get the gauges installed first and the get the TTM. This will be easier on you as far as getting everything wired. You can get gauges and the pillar for like $250, and its worth every penny. As far as the TTM it will be a time saver, and you can get the for $115.

Like the last person said... do the gauges first or at same time. I would recommend the ISSPro TTM also. They have great customer service from my experience.

I just received my TTM from DIS "very good service". Cost = $122.32 including S&H. As soon as I receive my replacement X-Monitor I'll install everything at the same time.
blucobra03, The TTM will allow you to turn your truck off and leave it unattended. The TTM will shut the engine down once it has reached safe operating temps.

Nonsense. If you buy the right parts and install them right, then it's easy to install the TTM now and add the pyrometer later.
I would rely on Brent at DIS to sell you the right TTM for a 6.0L engine and the right thermocouple now that will work with your pyrometer later. Explain to him that you want to install the TTM now, with a pre-turbo thermocouple that can later be used with your choice of gauges. You'll have to choose the pyrometer now, but you probably won't have to buy it now.
(But if you can come up with an extra $90 now, then you can buy the complete pyrometer kit now and install it later - after you get a mount and other gauges. That way you'll be certain you have a thermocouple that matches your pyrometer gauge as well as working with the TTM.)
If you choose the ISSPRO EV pre-turbo pyrometer, then Brent will know which clamp-on thermocouple to include with the TTM so the pyrometer will hook up correctly a few months from now.
Be sure you install the thermocouple pre-turbo. Ignore the ISSPRO TTM instructions that say to install it post turbo. Post turbo is okay for the TTM if you'll never add a pyro, but the pyro needs to be installed pre turbo to give you accurate engine temps. My pyro and TTM have ben working off a pre-turbo thermocouple for about 4 years now, and they work great.

Gentlemen-Thanks for the helpful input. Looks like I need to reconsider my options here. I had tried talking to Brent at DIS but he has been out of town for the past week.
So now the next question- Having never done this before- Can anyone reccomend guages that are easy to see in the day and night and who out there is making the three guage style pillars that match interior colors?
I know, I know I could just do a search and find some good info. But I don't have much time to do that. Figure i would just ask the experts for an expert answer.
As always-Thanks for the help

Depends on your choice of gauges. The "better" gauges such the ISSPRO EV will cost a little more than that.
You can buy the ISSPRO EV gauges from DIS for about $237, including the little bit extra to upgrade to the clamp-on thermocouple for the pyrometer. The black A-Pillar mount is another $58 for a total of $295. Add the TTM for another $117.

The A-pillar mount comes only in black. But most of the sponsors on TheDieselStop that sell gauges will also paint the mount to match the interior color of your cab. Including DIS. But I have no idea how much they charge for this service.

I would like to add a set of gauges too however I don't have the means, time, energy, knowledge, etc. to do them myself. Does any one know who/where to call to have these installed?
I asked this question a while back and was told it may be best to let the Ford dealer hood them up 'cause of warranty issues. If the lights are hooked up wrong, you could blow the GEM.
