Turbo Timer

I have an '05 Excursion with a 6.0 amd would like to add a turbo timer, Ford already bought back my '04 so I do not want to cut any wires. Does anybody know about a "plug in" turbo timer?. I was told by my dealer that if cut into the harness the warranty will be voided and I do no want any hassle. At 7500 miles so far so good but my '04 started at 11,000 with the surging. Re: Turbo Timer

Ford Gold system can be used as a turbo timer, although it's a set 10 or 15 minute time frame. However, I'm curious why is a turbo timer that critical to you? On the hardest runs, mine will cool down in a matter of minutes. I use the feature to leave the truck running with A/C if I'm only going ot be a few minutes but that's it.

Re: Turbo Timer

I know there are a lot of opinions as to have it or not to have it. My main reason is that I travel several times a year from home to the TN Mountains and after a couple of hours running hard I simply forget to let it cool down when I get off the interstate for gas or food. (My other car is gas)

My son has a gauge on his 05 F250 and it seems to me that it takes more that just driving off the ramp to the gas pump to cool down the turbo. I called a couple of the local dealers and they just do not recommend installing the Ford Remote starter/timer.

Re: Turbo Timer

Juan...
Heck of a dealer you got there !!!
don't recomend a ford product ?!?

I've had two Ex's with the Ford Gold and NO problems ever...

we've had discussions on this many times and
by all means get what you want for your truck...
but I, like familyride, had the turbo cool down on my 03...
and made LOT's of trips with it...
and NEVER used the cool down feature...
as I NEVER found a fueling station were I would be running 85 loaded and pull off the interstate and could shut down immediately...
always had to slow down to 40 or so, drive a bit, turn in, idle up to the pump, then shut down...
and in that couple of minutes, everything is cool as it's gonna get

I've always found my engine cools off quicker when moving easy rather than @ idle with no air movement...

good luck...
DO get a remote start - it's worth every penny, then some !
You'll never have a car without it after the first one !!!
