Water / Methanol Injection Boost Cooler

Does anyone know anything about the Water/Methanol Boost Cooler? They offer two stages, Stage 1 for under 450 hp and Stage 2 for over 450 hp applications. It is suppose to decrease EGT's by 200 degrees and give 50hp / 100lbs of torque to the rear wheels. Is it worth $500? Has anyone had any problems with it? With everything I have done, would it be safe to say I'm over 450 hp?

Re: Water / Methanol Injection Boost Cooler

I think what he means is that anytime you go over the "magic" number HP/torque...
your transmission/torque convertor is just overtaxed....

Now defining that magic HP number is harder...
some say 400 some say 450 - I dunno

but the water/meth (as long as the % meth is not over 50%) does a good job of cooling and HP....

Re: Water / Methanol Injection Boost Cooler

Like everyone else said, with what you have now you are border line tranny troubles, and really if you run it real hard it's only a matter of time before it goes. Don't get me wrong, I have never heard a bad thing about water meth besides the tank bing to small.. but with that added power the tranny is going to die sooner than later. I would save for a ATS or suncoast then add the big time power.

What is your built date? How Many miles on your truck? Are you running stacked boxes? You are not over 450hp with just a pred.

Re: Water / Methanol Injection Boost Cooler

hey jason
i am thinking about putting it on my truck, but got some questions, how hard was it to install/un install, how much more power, how often do you use it and how long have you been using it, i want more power but i would prefer not to blow her up.
thanks

Re: Water / Methanol Injection Boost Cooler

To be honest, I'm not looking for more HP, that's just a bonus. I haul a 30' TT (12,000 lbs) that is a real wind hog. I would like to get my EGT's lower and this is suppose to do just that. How much did your EGT's go down?? I just moved my sensor from post turbo to pre turbo ( right where the two manifold pipes come together ) and I was very surprised how hot the air was without towing. With the Preditor in the 100hp tune I was 800 degrees sustained and up to 1300 degrees giving it a full pull up to ??? mph. Before, with the trailer at 75 mph, the post turbo temp was 800 in the 40 hp towing tune. I have a feeling my temps are going to be way over 1200 degrees with the sensor pre turbo. Everyone says that 1200+ is BAD!!! Do you think the water/Meth will help??

Re: Water / Methanol Injection Boost Cooler

We see a couple hundred degree pretty consistantly. The power gains are ususally a side benefit. Many want the EGT's under control. I use it for that purpose alone. It's easy for me to drop my EGT's on a dyno run alone from 1600+(gauge is pegged) to 1350 max. If you run straight water, you'll get the least power increase, but you'll get great temperature drops. It's cheap to run then too.

Check out our site for more info. Water Injection

Re: Water / Methanol Injection Boost Cooler

Bob,

Can you explain to me exactly how this system works? For some reason I was under the impression once it was installed, thats it. After checking it out on your web site it looks like a fuel additive that requires constant refueling. Does this work like a dry NOS application where nitrious is injected into the throttle body or carb of a gasoline engine, only this is injected into the intercooler through a spray nozzle?? What would FORD do if they saw this under the hood? I'm already having problems with them over common mods like exhaust and intake. The system doesn't really look like it comes out easy. Let me know.....................
