What is the best battery replacement

I have a few amps and other electrical goodies installed, and have plans for more.... So, I need something that won't let current needs down nor my precious FICM and related engine parts. Money's not a huge obstacle if it is for solid quality and high output.

Batteries are for starting. It's your alternator you need to worry about.

I would be looking into a dual alt set up if you don't have it now.

.....And after you get that alternator issue settled, those Odyssey PC 1500DT batteries would make a GORGEOUS addition to your set-up! I love they way my Odyssey "twins" (I've got 2 PC 1500DTs) work with the DC Power Engineering 270-amp alternator that I have

True: 'Ya have to pay a cost to be the boss when you want these kinda toys, but it was worth it for me!

I'm a fan of the dual alternator setup. I ordered it on my 05 and just have the factory dual alternators, but have been very happy with that choice. My truck hauled a pretty good sized Arctic Fox truck camper that had extra batteries. We ran extra heavy wire for the charging circuit of the camper plug in and I was always amazed how quickly the truck would recharge the batteries in the camper when driving. The camper had a large solar panel with a controller and monitor so it was easy to look and see what condition the coach batteries were in.

If you're running a lot of high draw electrical accessories I would think the duals would be a great way to go. It sounds like there are options with much higher output than stock too.

You happen to have an underhood pic of your cable arrangement? I too have the 270 amp model just haven't installed it yet but will need to cause battery light is coming on and it shows I'm only getting 13.2 from alternator.

I read a review of the DC Power 270XP and also asked the opinion of a local stereo shop who said that, because these alternators are such high output at idle, they are much higher drag. Have you seen any ill effects, such as drastic drop in gas mileage?

I need something good to replace stock alternator, which is putting out low output after 130k miles.

Thanks in advance for everyone's insight...

Autozone just gave me 2 new batteries since the old ones only lasted 2 years, 361 days. Lucky for me but I was happy I paid a little more 2 years, 361 days ago.
