I'm not a real sports head but I also thought pucking had to do with hockey!
I've never pucked on beer either. Maybe my speach was impared and that's what it sounded like I said, but.........

but just bcause it does that through the reserve does that mean its got a blown gasket?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope. There are a few ways one can achieve puking. Blown head gasket is one. Whenever CP's get high enough, some high pressure gas will blow by and pressurize the coolant system and whala...puking. But another way is the EGR cooler. It can be exposed to too high EGT's which will flash some of the coolant. Basically, the EGR cooler tries to cool down the exhaust gas you are recycling. In some trucks, it is stuck open, which means is stays open when it shouldn't. That means really hot gases are flowing in there and the coolant just can't cope. You get local boiling (flashing) and this creates pressure which exits out the reservoir.
I think there was one other way to puke, but I forgot it. Someone?

Ralph, my truck is in the shop now for puking. Thay said my oil cooler went out putting oil in my cooling system. I had residue all over inside my de gas bottle. Oil coolers are on back order.

tporter, has your truck ever been chipped? Mine is in for same thing and i mentioned it earlier, never been chipped but the ppl on this board say it kaint happen if its never been chipped while ford tells me it is something happens often.

The real truth is that it can happen to a stock truck. Are you sure it is the oil cooler and not the EGR cooler? What is blocked? The oil-side or the coolant side?
Ralph
ps, Ford is probably not the best authority (believe it or not) on whether things that happen often are actually so. That is, I think a lot of claims are people who take their "stuff" off the truck and bring it in and say "Gee, my truck keeps spewing antifreeze, is it supposed to do that?" So, they may think it is stock, but really it was not when it failed. I would agree the modded trucks are more likely to fail, but we have seen plenty of stockers choke also.

I have yet to see anyone on this board say a stock truck can't puke. I think we are all aware that it can happen to a stocker.
What we did say is, we don't believe yours has "never been chipped", due to the fact there is more than one thread on this board where you talked about having your truck equipped with an Edge Evo and had it set on the second setting (which I believe is the 100hp setting, since the Evo only has two power files in it.). You were even bragging about how much it smoked in one of them.......
When we called you on that little discrepancy, you then claimed it was your grandfather's truck...... Well, that is awful hard to swallow when you have referred to this truck as yours too many times......

i see stock ones all the time puking and blowin oil coolers.
the heat from the exhaust that goes threw the egr cooler , melts the solder off the engine oil cooler, this makes the engine oil temp go to almost 300 degrees and sometimes higher

Stock trucks can and will puke under a heavy load --been there done that --Ford replaced my studs and gaskets with NO questios asked -- their service dept admitted that they did a lot of them as it was a problem -- puking most likely is a result of a headgasket problem --EGR can cause a similiar problem but it is far less likely --- mine puked when I hit 1250 EGT and was pushing 30+ pounds of boost --up a long grade --yes and my truck is stock--
