Left the oil cooler out on purpose. Been fighting a low coolant problem, that I havent been able to correct. Deltas are still ok with old cooler. Have flushed, changed thermostats twice, changed temp sensor, new degass bottle cap, changed water pump and belts. So I may flush again, when filter is installed. I've had truck a year and wondering if something has been added to stop a leak. Can put cardboard in front of radiator and delta is only 2 to 4 degrees. Temps run about 180 now.
The weak points of the 6.0L are the EGR cooler and oil cooler. Those things are what cause the majority of all other problem. Why not fix the weak links while you have all the other stuff out of the way. It is much more simple to do all this work while the cab is off.

Not doing cab off. Notice Im putting a coolant filter before oil cooler. I belive the problem is the coolant flashes off and has particulate fall out then that coolant goes to the small passages of the oil cooler and stoppes up.Im doing a egr delete and full flow filter (not a bypass) before the oil cooler. the updated oil cooler is just a replacement heat exchanger. not an improved design.
Go to IPR diesel's website and look at gen2 EGR delete , coolant manifold and full flow filter.
