4th test batch ate the blender.

Made my 4th test batch last night and everything went fine as usual until about three hours later when the plastic piece that hold the blades cracked and drained the glycerin. I guess I'll start using the shake method. I have been using new oil and now I will attempt titration and make a few batches.

Re: 4th test batch ate the blender.

hahahahaha

That kinda sucks. Are you using a glass blender or a plastic blender? Most of the blnder tricks I read about use glass ones.

Re: 4th test batch ate the blender.

It is glass but the part that holds the blades is plastic. It is one of those that you can remove the blades from the bottom. I can't find an old all glass one so I tried this. Lesson learned. I thought it was pretty funny as well. Normally I can see the separation from the door when I walk into the garage. Last night after dinner I went out to check and I didn't see any separation. As I got closer, I noticed that the glycerin had auto-drained!

Re: 4th test batch ate the blender.

Using an electric blender is not a very good idea. Cheap motors emit plenty of internal sparks, and methanol is very flamable. The Dr pepper bottle method is much safer. Close the cap tight and shake, shake, shake.

Re: 4th test batch ate the blender.

I am now using an old and cleaned out vegetable oil container, It seems to be working fine.
