50 / 50 mix ok?

I live in florida so temps aren't a problem. Can I get wvo, filter it down to 5 microns, and use it in about a 50/50 mix with dino with no mods to anything? The truck just has a 10k mod and a straight pipe as far as mods go and 115k miles. If 50/50 is too much then what do you suggest? I don't want to go adding extra fuel tanks, heaters, and all the other stuff yet.

thanks

Re: 50 / 50 mix ok?

well-i ran 70/30 in the tdi--and it ran fine--just start it on dsl--for about 1 minute--then switch to the mix--you need the cylinders heated to make it burn right---

Re: 50 / 50 mix ok?

I've run 50/50 with no problem, but I think the key to it is mixing. When I fill up I have 17 gallons of WVO in 5 gallon jugs, I use the jug with the 2 gallons in it to start the mixing in. Yes it is a bit of a pain but I only have to do it about every other week. I have poured unmixed WVO in the tank, you can tell it goes straight to the bottom of the tank without mixing, the fuel pump gets a little louder. On the safe side I think it's best to add unmixed WVO after a good drive with a warm engine. The only mod I've done to the truck is add a in-line filter before the fuel pump. For more info on mixing, do a search (mixing) you'll find other people doing the same.

Re: 50 / 50 mix ok?

Mix it before pouring in the truck tank .
I do suggest adding an additional filter before the OEM filter . This will greatly reduce your filter costs . Changing the add on rather than the OEM .

Re: 50 / 50 mix ok?

I'll do the extra filter thing for sure. The mixing thing may be a tough one to live with. What if I fill it to just under half tank, put in 10 gallons of WVO, and drive it in my back yard for a few minutes. I have an offroad course in the back yard. that is enough to shake my kidneys loose so I would guess it would work for a mix too? After that go back and finish the fill up?
