Re: 55 Gallon plastic drum

I have several black ones. If you have a way to get it from Nebraska, you can have one. I do have a former neighbor who trucks in that direction, how flexible are you as far as meeting him somewhere to pick it up if I can get him to bring it to Houston? I am sure he would, I just do not know how often he gets to Houston.

Re: 55 Gallon plastic drum

Thanks Stormin, I'll check out Zooman's prospect and see if they have it at that price. I'll keep you in mind if it doesn't work out.

Thanks again

Re: 55 Gallon plastic drum

MrMedic, went by Steinhauser's today to get feed, they are 16.50 but didn't have any today. Galco Hardware off 6 in Santa Fe has them and a place off 146 near Kemah also has them.

Re: 55 Gallon plastic drum

For that price, I'll take it! I'll give them a call tomorrow and maybe go pick one up. Thanks again!

P.S. That other prospect is looking good. I'll find out for sure Tuesday.

Re: 55 Gallon plastic drum

MrMedic, if you are interested I have a 55 poly, but I cut the bottom out of it. I had it inverted with screen in the hole I cut in the bottom to filter my oil. It was my filter and settling drum. I now use a 300 gallon tote with panty hose, but you are more than welcome to the poly. I'm only 5 minutes from Steinhauser's if you head that way.

Re: 55 Gallon plastic drum

MrMedic, what part of town are you in, I know a place near conroe that i get'em from that has a couple of different sizes of the poly, they are previously used, so they are inexpensive...

Re: 55 Gallon plastic drum

You guys that are looking for drums should check with your local carwashes. I've been able to get all I want for free. All their soaps, cleansers and waxes come in them and they come in 15,30 and 55 gallon sizes. And they're all translucent so you can see the oil level or progress as the oil settles.

Re: 55 Gallon plastic drum

Zooman: I think for the washer I'm building with it, I'll need most of the top on, but thanks.

txfdcapt: I'm in west Houston, I-10 and hwy 6. But if the carwash idea doesn't work out, I'll check with you about your source. P.S. Supervisor 69A here. Are you HFD?

Blue Mule: Thanks, I'll check out the car washes near me today and see what may be available.

Thanks to all, as usual, there are always new ideas out there.

Re: 55 Gallon plastic drum

I have about 50 every year that we turn into trash cans. I work at a marina and all of our non toxic antifreeze comes in these 55 gallon drums. I'm not sure if boats get winterized in Houston, heck I'm not even sure if theres water in Houston but that would be another option. Good Luck

Re: 55 Gallon plastic drum

Go to any of the better car washes; they have BUNCHES of them! Just wash em out good with the clear water rinse at your local car wash. Usually only $2.00 - $4.00 each for either 30 or 55 gal.
