7.3l idi return o-rings

Does anyone know were I can find the correct return o-ring to run on my 7.3idi?

thinking of converting to wvo and want to make sure I have no problems. I have heard that the o-rings and return hose can be an issue for leaks, and want to take care of it all before I do the project...
thanks much in advance

napa auto parts or any auto parts store sells a kit i think for $50. With everything you need hosses, clamps, and o-rings.

Re: 7.3l idi return o-rings

Get them from http://www.mcmaster.com (mcmaster-carr). VITON o-ring in the EXACT size that you need for the return caps. Mcmaster part No. 9464K24 just put that in the search box. You get a bag of
-50- of them for only $5.93 !!

They also have the viton return line in the right size too. Sell it by the foot. mcmaster also has the fastest shipping on the planet, I swear!

Make sure you Vaseline the 0-rings good before you try and put them on, and for whatever reason, you put the top one on first, then slip the 2nd one over that; just works; dunno why!

Re: 7.3l idi return o-rings

You should be ok, should be. Then again the this issue did just throw me for a big loop. The only leads I have on the condition of the return loop is, if your showing diesel seepage under the injectors collecting in the valleys where the glow plugs sit. I was sure mine were blown when I failed to pull a vacume on one side when I could do it well on the other.

Try here if your interested,

http://shop.dieselpage.com/category.sc?categoryId=29

I have to admit though the McMaster's route might be a good one if you still trust thoes funny little boots are good. Just be sure not to use worm drive hose clamps, only spring clamps and screw type (injector) clamps.

I search McMaster for the Viton hose, but it threw me through a loop by having to scroll down the left side bar to "Viton Tubbing"

So I will share what I found

Here are the Part #'s

*** These are all for my '88 7.3L IDI Diesel Engine***

FIRM Black Viton Hose for the hoses between injectors: 5119K13 = $5.02 per foot (1/'08)
(also available in Green and Brown: 5119K861 = Green., 5119K864 = Brown)
SOFT Black Viton Hose for the hoses between injectors: 5119K43 = $5.61 per foot (1/'08)

5 Feet should be enough

FIRM Black Viton Hose for the hoses from the fuel tank to fuel pump & to the return line on the back of the engine: 5119K21 = $15.26 per foot (1/'08), {5119K891 = Green. 5119K894 = Brown)
SOFT Black Viton Hose for the hoses from the fuel tank to fuel pump & to the return line on the back of the engine: 5119K51 = $14.79 per foot (1/'08)

3 Feet should do.

I'm Doing all these hose replacement as precautions before running BioDiesel...

Sorry to dig up an old post, but - do you recommend the "firm" or "soft" hose? I would think the soft, but wanted to check...

Thanks,
Chris.

Make sure you give them the model year of your truck- the hose diameter changed in 1989 MY.

Oh yes, mine is a 1990 F250 7.3l IDI. Thanks for the tip, I'll double check the diameter requirements too...
