I've been adding 1oz of Veggie Oil per 1 gallon of #2, for lubrication purposes (as an additive, straight out of the bottle). Will this cause any problems?
Probably not. I run 100% waste vegetable oil just fine, albeit on a much older rig. As long as you take care to make sure it actually mixes, you should be fine.

This may be a dumb question, but....Will it not mix? I've just been pouring it in the tank just like an additive.

I would get a clear container like a glass jar and put 3/4 full of diesel fuel. With jar sitting still on a table, slowly pour a little veggie oil in it and watch closely what happens. Does it mix by itself or does it have to be shaken a little? Let it set ther for a week or two and look at it. Did it seperate out? I did this with BioDiesel and it mixed completely by itself. 3 months later, still mixed without ever touching the jar.

Heating the VO a bit helps, but not too much. Keep it under what would make it too hot to touch comfortably

just pour in your vo before you fill up at the pump and that should mix just fine.

Bio and VO are two different things. did you try your test with VO?
I might just have to try this? i have mixed VO+diesel+Power service and left it out over night to 20f and had no clouding so i poured it in the tank!
I"ve been blending filtered and heated WVO for about 2 years now with no problems. 20% in the summer and 10% in the winter. This may vary for others, I live in Ga and its hot here in the summer and hardly ever gets below 10* for a substantial time in the winter.
I originally got about 10 jars and did some testing during a few 15* and 20* nights and the days warmed to about 45* just to see what would happen with different percentages of blend in increments of ten, up to 80%. They all mixed, but after 40% the viscosity got a little high in my opinion for a winter mix(40% and higher may work great for a hot summer blend). I let all the jars set for about 3 days.
On the higher percentages, (40% and above jars) I added an equal amount of power service diesel kleen additive to each jar on the 4th day and let set over night. The viscosity lowered on each jar a considerable amount. I let these jars set an additional couple of days. Everything stayed the same.
I know this was not a "scientific test" and did not have all the instrument for testing so take this information for what it is worth(maybe be useless to some, and helpful to others).
The key is to get the oil filtered good and the water boiled out.

I've been mixing fresh veg oil straight out of the bottle from sams. Is there water in this?
[/ QUOTE ]
Generally not, but it would not hurt to heat up and let cool before blending.

there shouldnt be water in unused vege oil. but thats why diesels have a water seperator. dont forget to drain it now and then. make sure do it in the winter mostly!
