Anyone having trouble with WVO tank sending units?
This is the second sending unit that has failed. They are from Tempo. What happens is the gauge will not receive a signal and reads empty. Then while driving and when the oil sloshes around, it will intermittently bounce to the proper reading and then back to empty. I have replaced the lead wires, and that wasn't it. I've added a beefy ground wire to the tank, and that didn't help. I've bridged a ground wire to the ground tab on the sending unit and it did nothing. I bridged a ground wire to the positive lead on the sending unit and it jumped the needle to full. So, I know it's not on the positive side. The leads on the back of the gauge are all proper, tight, and insulated. I can't think of what it could be. Is the WVO tearing up the actual sending unit? Or can you think of a way that the electrical circuit is being broken somewhere?
Maybe I'm the only one.

Re: Anyone having trouble with WVO tank sending units?
I don't think they can take the heat. Mine works fairly well above 1/2 of a tank, but bets are off below that. Sometime it does and sometime it doesn't.
Since I process my oil in about 30 gallon batches for a 60 gallon tank I basically just need to know when it can take a full batch.

Travis- Check THESE out by ISSPRO. They are a solidstate fuel sender and have worked well for me so far(fingers crossed). I have even called them and they said should work fine with oil, no problem.

Hey thanks for the tip FN. I'll make the change.
I've been hearing good things about your design. Good work! I wish I paid more attention last year when it was being talked about. I take it your home safe?

Re: Anyone having trouble with WVO tank sending units?
I had trouble with the first Tempo sender I had, but the warranty replacement has been fine for thousands of miles. I wonder if they had a bad batch or something? The first one never read accurately or consistent full to empty but the replacement does. So a defect is likely for the first one in my case at least.
