BB I too am a proud owner and dealer for Bio Pro. I do not put on the mileage that you and Norman do but my time keeps getting more precious by the day.
I built a very nice appleseed set up and I really enjoyed brewing with it. Unfortunately the 5-6 hours a week of actual time it took to make 30 gallons of fuel was putting me behind on all fronts.
The Bio Pro puts out 50 gallons per batch and consumes less than 30 minutes of my time!
With the soaring price of diesel the payback gets shorter by the day and I am getting caught up on all the other stuff I do.

I use one of these and it is just as easy as it says - literally 30min of hands on time and 50 gallons of washed B100 every 48hrs.
I think it was BioPro's site that had the cost calculator, etc. to help figure out the 'pay for itself' question.
We are buying methanol cheaper than most and also the other chem's in modest quantity and we are close to 80 cents/gallon for finished product (not counting the $8k machine!). Still looking for a market for the glycerin, which could even bring that down a little.
The real key to this machine is TIME. I was discouraged by the chemicals, cost and the time required for the 'low buck' units many people build - not to mention anticipating a 'bad batch' percentage I would likely have dealt with, so I went SVO initially. This machine greatly minimizes the time required and the chances of screwing up (as long as the VO is mostly dry going in!)- BIG bonuses for me.
I LOVE B100 in the diesel tank and SVO in the other tank(s). Its great to go thousands of miles w/o stopping to get (and pay!) for diesel on the road.

Pretty easy to figure your payback. Subtract $1 from whatever you are paying for diesel now. Take that number and divide it into 9000 and that is the ballpark number for gallons you need to make to break even. The $9000 is what the machine is going to cost after Nov 1 with shipping and extras. The $1 is high side chemical costs. If you are going to save $2 per gallon, as is the case with most of us, 4500 gallons gets you even. There are lots of variables in the formula which you need adjust for your particular circumstances. Depending on the methanol costs and whether or not you reclaim. If you have a local source of chemicals, or if you need to have them shipped to you. Whether you pay your state road taxes, or sneak by under the radar. You get the idea.
