Bio on a 05

Is there anyone that is running Bio-diesel on a brand new 05? What precent bio and how do you get it? What is the cost? Do I have to be a mad chemist to make this stuff? Sorry for all the questions but this is all new to me and I think it is kind of cool.

Re: Bio on a 05

Well, I've been running 5g of B100 in every tank since new in my 03, and it has the "same" 6.0 your 05 has. No problems! Its about $3.30/g here.

Re: Bio on a 05

Run it! I put my first batch in this truck just after I bought it. Probably running 50% or so on that tank. However I had an 04 that was being bought back which I experimented on.

Re: Bio on a 05

ACC_inc,

Its not difficult!
Read a lot before you make anything!
I recommend the book "From the fryer to the fuel tank" by Joshua and Kaia Tickell. I don't agree with some of the politics but the explaination of the process is extremely good!

Also start small, a small mess is easier to clean up, and work your way up to the 40-50 gallon batch.

keep us informed here of your progress, both good and bad!
Someone can learn from your miscalculation, we don't call them mistakes!

Re: Bio on a 05

I found a place that sells B20 here in town - only .06 more than regular diesel. I'll be putting a half tank in tomorrow to give it a shot. If nothing else, a good lubrication and cleanup; not to mention supporting a source of fuel here in the US!

These are excellent reasons. In addition, its is MUCH better for the environment, and with ULSD, it will provide added lubrication. The stuff is an excelent solvent & good for parts washers, being biodegradable. Its non-toxic too. We have the ability to totally remove our dependance on foreign oil with bio-fuels (ethanol & biodiesel) w/out destroying forests or producing less food.

Its just a total win - win, if we can get the costs down.
