Yeah it's usually not a good idea to be messing with fumes from the bubble washing process.
The reason I say bubble washing is that little bubbles of air are injected into the wash tank through a layer of water. These little bubbles can release some methanol vapors.
Mist wash is safer, as you're spraying a very fine mist of water on top of the biodiesel.
It's just a good idea not to be 'huffin' fumes during the whole process, have a mask for the KOH and make sure there's good ventilation when you handle your methanol.
